CAP FAQ's
  1. What sort of properties can you secure?
We can secure any properties that have doors and windows, i.e. houses, flats, office blocks, pubs and factories. All potential access points are identified during the survey and secured.
  2. Who requires this type of service?
Housing associations, council housing departments, developers, pub companies, police forces, insolvency practitioners, building societies, etc.
  3. What are the screens made of and what do they look like?
Our screens are made of tough, 1.5mm thick galvanised steel. They are painted in a neutral beige to be as unobtrusive as possible when fitted.
  4. How are the screens fixed?
The screens are fixed on to the internal walls or window framework using steel fixing bars, threaded rods or cables and ratchets.
  5. Would there be any damage fitting the equipment?
Our fitting teams are under strict orders to do little or no damage. Where it is necessary to obtain fixing points, windows are deglazed (refitted when the equipment is no longer required), but if a fixed window has to be broken, or any other damage is envisaged, the customer is always consulted.
  6. Is there an alternative to metal screening?
Yes, we can supply metal framed, clear polymer screens that are much more aesthetically pleasing and much preferred by decorators who enjoy the security and natural light afforded.
  7. Do you offer a keyless door?
Yes, we have developed a colour coded, push-button, electrically operated lock for our unique inwards- and outwards-opening door. Each door can be programmed with its own code and a master code. Easy to use and eliminates the aggravation of keys
  8. Do you supply and monitor vacant property alarms?
We have developed a unique stand-alone, battery-powered alarm for empty properties where there is no power. We can either monitor alarm activity or direct alarm activation to a customer or designated keyholder.
  9. Does CAP carry out lock changes?
CAP has qualified staff, proficient in gaining entry into locked properties and changing both mortice and trim locks.
  10. How much notice does CAP require?
Normally, 24 hours are sufficient. However, due to the nature of the product, CAP staff appreciate that if squatting is prevalent in the area or it is thought a tenant may break back in following eviction, then properties need to be protected fast and teams will work out of hours to ensure properties are secured.
  11. Does CAP offer an alternative to screening properties for security?
Certain locations and situations dictate whether it is better to: screen a property; set up a simulated occupation package of net curtains, lights and radios on timers; or install a temporary alarm. Regular patrols can also be implemented and the various elements mentioned above can also be mixed and matched to suit.
  12. What can you do to stop the occupation of vacant land?
There are a number of ways we can stop occupation, including: the installation of concrete, fixed Milton rings; the erection of RSJ barriers; and the construction of a perimeter hoarding and steel screening to prevent access into empty buildings on the land.
  13. Does CAP offer a monitoring service when securing properties or land?
Yes, CAP believes that secured land and buildings should be visited on a regular basis to ensure the integrity of the installation and security of the site.
  14. Do you carry out mobile patrols?
Yes, we carry out mobile patrols to properties secured by us or as a stand-alone service for managing agents, landlords, property owners, etc. Patrols are an integral part of our Property Watch and Pubwatch schemes.
  15. Can you carry out litigation work for illegally occupied property and land?
Yes, if required we can arrange the necessary litigation and manage the eviction process from the preparation of the paperwork, through the eviction, to the securing of the site and buildings.
  16. Can you arrange a bailiff service?
Yes, we have established links with firms of bailiffs who can organise the issue and serving of notices and warrants and carry out the eviction itself.
